Winter Weather in the Bitterroot Mountains
The Idaho Transportation pass camera at Lolo Pass shows the fresh snow Monday morning, June 11th. Lost Trail Pass at the south end of the Bitterroot Valley also had snowfall both Saturday and Sunday nights, but the roads cleared fairly quickly. However, those campers who picked some high elevations to pitch a tent woke up with a surprising amount of snow on the ground.
The National Weather Service had predicted the strong cold front that moved in from the Pacific Ocean. The strong winds that accompanied the weather system pushed the Ravalli County Relay for Life into the Event Center at the Ravalli County Fairgrounds Saturday afternoon. The event was completed indoors.
Sunday brought highs only in the 50s and the National Weather Service is predicting some freezing temperatures and frost Monday night into Tuesday. Then, the temperatures will rebound into the 70s Tuesday and Wednesday. Springtime in Montana!
