Throughout the month of November we asked you to send us your best Wild Game recipe contest. We got lots of entries but one that sounds delicious that we have awarded as our winner getting a $50 gift certificate to KJ's Nine Mile Steakhouse and $100 gift certificate to Big Sky Beetle Works toward a European mount.

The winning recipe came from Cathy a very loyal listener who makes an amazing Elk Roast:

Montana Zing Crockpot Roast
Cooking time 6-8 hours in Crockpot

5 pound Elk roast (or whitetail)
2 pkgs Au Jus Gravy Mix
1 Whole Jar Pepperoncini Pepper (and juice)
2 pkgs Ranch Dressing mix-dry
3/4 cup butter (cut into thick slices)

Lay the roast in the bottom of crockpot.
Lay slices of all butter on top of roast.
Sprinkle dry Au Jus and Ranch Dressing Mix all over.
Top with pepperoncini's and juice

Cook 6 hours and check for fork tenderness. If done-turn crockpot off. If need more time let it go until fork tender-meet just falls apart.

Make mash potatoes and scoop meat and juice over potatoes. Vegetable is optional. Serves 4-6 depending on # of pigs you are feeding.

I will do 2-5 lb roasts and double ingredients and have 2 dinners for my family of 5. First dinner is with the mashed potatoes and the 2nd dinner is just taking the meat and making taquitos. So yummy.
