Whooping Cough Invades Montana

Has your child been coughing lately? Seven cases of whooping cough have been confirmed late yesterday in Helena, MT.

According to Karen Wandel, communicable disease nursing supervisor, the cases began appearing during the second week of April. Mainly in High School students in the Helena area. Because of the severity of whooping cough, it is vital that medical staff know exactly everyone you came in contact with. If you have any questions or think you or someone you know may have whooping cough please get checked immediately. If you have been around someone who has whooping cough and you aren't coughing, you still need to be checked and put on preventive antibiotics. If your have any questions or think there may be a possibility you have whooping cough, contact the Missoula County health Department of Infectious diseases. Stay healthy Montana!
