When Does the Football Game Start? Osprey have Box Seats

An osprey lands at a nesting site above the Hamilton High School football field this past weekend.

Hamilton High School has been trying to discourage birds from building nests on top of their high-power lights at Haynes football field by the Bitterroot River. Plastic owl figures have been placed on every light pole.

A separate post and platform was installed nearby. That alternate nesting site has been used ... but ...

The osprey know a good nest location when they see it, fake owl be damned.

Besides, it's a great view of any game on the field. Unfortunately, nesting time will be long over by the time of autumn high school football.
