What the heck were those things flying around Missoula the past couple of days? They sounded like helicopters but flew like airplanes at least most of the time. Then their wings twisted and the propellers acted like helicopter blades.  They have been at the Missoula airport for the past couple of days.

It’s the V-22 Osprey and here’s what the Defense Dep’t says about them; “The Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey is an American multi-mission, military, tilt rotor aircraft with both a vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL), and short takeoff and landing (STOL) capability. It is designed to combine the functionality of a conventional helicopter with the long-range, high-speed cruise performance of a turboprop aircraft.”

Well whatever, the pair flying over the Missoula Valley sure had a lot of people craning their necks.
