I must say that I am truly shocked. It seems that my favorite Thanksgiving Day food didn’t make the top five foods that people are most looking forward to eating on Turkey Day. How could this be?

Of course, turkey is at the top of the list with 33 percent of the votes, and stuffing came in at a close second at 23 percent. Then the mashed potatoes, yams and green bean casserole finished off the survey.

I only have one question for you, and that is where is the pumpkin pie? Seriously people, yams makes the list and pumpkin pie doesn’t? Have the people who took this survey ever even tried pumpkin pie? Come on! The best part of yams is the toasted marshmellow on the top, and marshmellow isn’t even the main part of the dish. That’s like saying that best part of pizza is the parmesan cheese you sprinkle on top.

What is the world coming to, when the dessert that solely encompasses the fall season, and Thanksgiving, doesn’t even make the list of top five foods people are looking forward to eating on that day?

I do enjoy the green bean salad, mashed potatoes and dressing, but not more than pumpkin pie. I will also concede that turkey probably does deserve the number one spot. I also must ask then, if turkey makes the number one spot, where is the gravy? How do you have turkey without gravy?

What is happening in America? Did global warming and the recession cause people to go crazy? Why is pumpkin good enough for your latte but not good enough for your pie people? I think it’s time for a pumpkin revolution. Bring back the love of the pumpkin pie!
