If you haven't heard the details on this disgusting and sad story yet, prepare to get spitting mad.

Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribe officials are are looking for people responsible for poaching bald eagles and hawks in the Mission Valley over the weekend, with intent to sell their feathers. According to our friends at KPAX TV, residents living between St. Ignatius and Polson found several bald eagles and hawks dismembered and tossed in a nearby creek.

Tribal investigators speculate that the birds were being baited with deer or elk carcasses. As they came in to feed on the remains they were shot with small-caliber rifles. Typically the harvested parts are sold around the Pacific Northwest and Canada for possibly thousands of dollars.

Anyone with information is asked to contact tribal police at 406-675-4700. It's hard to believe that someone didn't see or hear something out of the ordinary. Here's hoping for a successful investigation. Our thanks to the Montana Outdoor Radio Show for providing the update.
