Walking in Hamilton is pretty easy, but in the evening is even better.

The Bitterroot Public Library and MSU/Ravalli County Extension will be walking from the library on State Street to the River Park, just a few blocks away, Thursday, June 29, at 5:30 p.m.

Please RSVP at the library if you plan to attend... 363-1670.

At River Park, organizers will show new resources available to increase your daily stroll enjoyment. Afterwards, local organic snacks and hard cider from Backroad Cider will be available.

The Extension Office has created a walking map of great routes in town and is wrapping up a contest for those who have registered their walks with the office in the Ravalli County Administration Center.

Some tips from Bike Walk Montana:

  • Always use a sidewalk, if available.
  • No sidewalk? Walk facing oncoming traffic.
  • Try to cross at the intersections.
  • Obey all traffic signals.
  • The Extension Office recommends when you walk - keep your back straight, swing your arms freely, looked forward, keep your chin parallel to the ground and hold your head high.
  • The walking maps are available at the MSU Extension Office, 215 South 4th, on the ground floor.
