It is not shocking to me that Americans are splurging more on going out. According to the U.S. Census Bureau and the USDA, Americans are now spending more money at restaurants than they are on groceries.

The USDA also states that eating food not prepared at home totals 41% of the food budget and 32% of the calories people are eating.

Eating out means that Americans are increasing their intake of salt, saturated fat, and sodium as well as not getting the right amount of fiber. All of this is bad news for America's war on obesity.
