This weekend a great event is going on to help fight ALS. Saturday from 10 am -12 at McCormick Park in Missoula is the 'Walk to End ALS'.

ALS is also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. It's a disease that effects the bodies nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. According to the ALSA.org website here are some facts about ALS and why you should hep.

  • Every 90 minutes someone is diagnosed with ALS, and every 90 minutes someone loses their battle to this fatal disease
  • The average life span after diagnosis is 2-5 years
  • Military veterans are twice as likely as the general population to die from ALS
  • Living with ALS can cost more than $200,000 per year above and beyond what is covered by insurance
