Hall of Fame baseball player Wade Boggs was one of the best hitters the game has ever seen, but an urban legend has followed him around that’s even more fantastic than his hitting statistics.

Rumors have swirled for years that Boggs once drank 64 beers on a cross-country flight from Boston to Los Angeles.

Well, Charlie Day, star of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, claimed during a recent interview that Boggs admitted to him that the number wasn’t 64. Instead, it was 107.

To be fair, Boggs doesn’t say he drank 107 beers on the flight. He modestly pointed out that it took him all day to guzzle that much brew.

Say what you will about the alleged feat of strength, that’s a lot of trips to the bathroom. (Esquire)
