The pilot killed in a plane crash on Lost Trail Pass Tuesday has been identified.

According to the Ravalli County Sheriff's Office, 62-year-old Michael Blume of Burnsville, Minnesota, was the pilot and lone occupant of the classic twin-engine Grumman float plane.

The airplane crashed and burned at the parking lot of Lost Trail Powder Mountain ski area Tuesday afternoon about 5:30 p.m.

Undersheriff Steve Holton said the plane was on a flight path to Hamilton. The pilot had stopped at Dillon and Salmon before attempting to cross the pass. Holton told KGVO/KLYQ News that weather conditions at the time were not good, but he said the cause of the crash will be determined by the National Transportation Safety Board and FAA officials.
