Sometimes, the squeaky wheel really does get the grease.

That was the comment from Monte Turner, Public Information Officer at the Mineral Regional Health Center after he heard from the Veterans Administration this week regarding the use of 'Choice Cards'.

"I was a little hot under the collar when the Montana VA Health Care system didn't help us get through this 90 day red tape mess with HealthNet, the company they contracted with to administrate the cards," Turner said. "I guess my temper tamtrum paid off because we received a call on Monday that we're good to go, and veterans can now use their choice cards to get healhcare here in Superior."

Turner explained how the Choice Card works for area veterans.

"If they do not want to drive to Missoula, because it's over 40 miles," he said. "Or, if they schedule an appointment at the VA Healthcare Center in Missoula and they can't be seen for more than 30 days, then just swing on by here."

Turner gave credit to all the media attention given to the problem, as well as pressure brought to bear by Montana Senator Jon Tester to solve the issue.
