"Fossil" can be used as a term to tease someone about getting old. Or maybe refer to that car of yours. But not here! No, we're talking about actual fossils, paleontology and all that.

"Dust off them bones and party with paleontologists." And what party (extinct) animals they are, no doubt! The University of Montana Paleontology Center invites the public to the sixth annual National Fossil Day, Wednesday, October 14. This free event runs from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Charles Clapp Building, southeast corner of campus.

Lots of activities for adults and kids, including fossil identification, tours of the research center, a "special guest" from the Two Medicine Dinosaur Center and lots more.

Anytime you can combine education and fun, you got a pretty good thing going. Kids should really enjoy this! If you need more information you can call Kallie Moore, collections manager at the UM Paleontology Center, 406-243-5151 (the bone phone?). Or pay a visit to  the UM College of Humanities and Science website to get more on "dem bones."  DB
