The University of Montana will celebrate its 122nd birthday on Thursday, Feb. 12, with a noon-hour party and an evening Charter Day awards ceremony and reception.

Angela Weisenburger with the University of Montana Office of Alumni Relations said the day will begin with a free lunch hour cupcake party in the University Center atrium. The Charter Day awards ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the University of Montana ballroom to honor several important community members.

Weisenburger listed the honorees for the 2015 Charter Day celebration.

Montana Alumni Award: Don C. Cowles III

Associated Students of UM Student Service Award: Mike Hopkins

Robert T. Pantzer Presidential Humanitarian Award: Stephen Kalm

Neil S. Bucklew Presidential Service Award: Deborah Doyle McWhinney

Tom Boone Town and Gown Award: Karen Ruth Adams

Outstanding Volunteer Award: Wilena Old Person (Yakama/Blackfeet)

Outstanding Service to the External Community Award: Nancy Noel Marra

John Ruffatto Memorial Award: Shawn F. Clouse

George M. Dennison Presidential Faculty Award for Distinguished Accomplishment: Ronald H. Wakimoto

George M. Dennison Presidential Staff Award for Distinguished Accomplishment: Cary Shimek 

The events are free and open to the public.
