I always love these stories. I really admire the determination and heart that goes into the effort. I'd be really surprised if this gal needs her high school diploma, but that is totally beside the point.

Associated Press looked under a mortar board in Akron, Ohio, where they found Dorothy Liggett. Dorothy is 93 and was just a few weeks shy of getting her high school diploma back in 1942. But school officials found out that she had run off to get married. She and her husband John had gotten hitched before he went off to battle in World War II. Being married was against the rules at Akron's North High School.

Well, it took 74 years, but after being contacted by Dorothy's daughter, the current superintendent hand-delivered Dorothy's diploma! I hope she fills out some job applications and does a resume just so she can say "high school graduate."    DB
