Nearly 4,000 Missoula homes are without power in Missoula on Wednesday morning, according to the outage map on Northwestern Energy's website.

NBC Montana reports that the outage is centered near the intersection of Russell and Brooks in the middle of town.

Northwestern Energy is estimating that power should be restored between 7:30 and 8:00 a.m.

The National Weather Service in Missoula has upgraded its advisory for snow in the lest few hours, according to meteorologist Luke Robinson.

"Currently here at the airport, we have three quarters of a mile visibility with moderate snow," Robinson said. "Over the past hour we've picked up about an inch of heavy wet snow, and for that reason we have upgraded the current winter weather advisory to a winter storm warning, and the main threat is for heavy wet snow."

Robinson said the snow should turn to rain by about 8:00 a.m.
