I learned the Pythagorean Theorem in school, and didn't learn to do my taxes. Some changes should be made. There are so many life lessons that should be taught in school that are over looked. I don't work in education and I know our teachers work very hard, I just wish we did more to prepare students for real life.

I was very lucky to grow up in a great school district in the Seattle area, although the one class I wish we had (workshop) was never an option. I created a small list of things that I think we should be teaching in school to better prepare students for life after high school.

-How to do your taxes

-How to budget and manage your money

-First Aid including CPR

-How to create a professional Resume and Cover Letter

-How to change the oil in your car

-How to change your tire

-How to grow your own food

-How to socialize (put the electronics down)

-How to Iron your clothes

-How to sew

-How to edit video

-The ups and downs of social media

Once again, I want to stress how much I appreciate what teachers do on a daily basis to help our youth grow into successful members of society. I just wonder if a few things on the curriculum could be switched to help even more.
