They Finally Caught Zulu the Runaway Tortoise

This would be like you running a thousand miles from home. I've done the math. But the happy part of the story is that the big guy is reunited with his family.

In Hollywood, Florida, an 80-pound African tortoise named Zulu wondered away from home. Its owner, Mary Schull, says Zulu got out of its metal cage and went for a stroll.  A couple found the tortoise just sitting on a sidewalk about a half-mile from home! They took Zulu to their house, called police and were able to find Ms. Schull.

And just like so many pets, this one must have been an important part of the family. Mary and Zulu have been together for 18 years. He could fit in the palm of her hand when she first got him. Turtle puppy!    DB
