A showdown of sorts is brewing between heirs of the legendary actor John Wayne and Duke University in North Carolina, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Duke has been fighting with Wayne's heirs over "Duke" trademarks for nearly a decade, and last year, the school objected when Wayne's family attempted to register "Duke" -- the late actor's nickname -- for all alcoholic beverages except beer. Duke claims people will be confused by bourbon Wayne’s family wants to sell. The university was slapped with a lawsuit by John Wayne Enterprises that claims consumers will not be confused at all. The late actor's family now is seeking a declaratory judgment that there will be no confusion and that its attempts to register and use "Duke" alcohol will not dilute Duke University's own rights.
