If you happen to be vacationing in California's Muir Woods, you'll definitely want to check out Tree 76. I know. It seems worthy of a more poetic name, doesn't it?

Well, young Tree 76 is the tallest redwood tree in Muir, at 249 feet! And considering it's just a young tyke at 777 years old, well, I guess the sky might literally be the limit.

Authorities thought the tree had to be much older given its size, so they did a ring study and came up with lucky age 777. It's a baby compared to some of the huge old-growth trees a bit north of Muir. Some of those in the Sierra Nevada region are thought to be over 3,000 years old. So Junior's still got some growin' up to do. I wonder if it knows Tree 75.
