It turned out to be quite a controversial topic when the proposal came up. Tom Mac Clay wanted to use his own property for the resort and then expand into forest service land on the Lolo Peak area for the runs.  If I recall, he also needed to make artificial snow and wanted to use the runoff on the mountain to create that. I know there are similarities and differences when it comes to what each ski hill is proposing but it brings up the question, should Snowbowl expand when Mac Clay couldn't? The Lolo National Forest is accepting public comment on a planned expansion of the Montana Snowbowl ski area just north of Missoula.
