The Forest Service has issued a final Record of Decision to designate 198,000 acres of the Great Burn area in the Clearwater National Forest in Idaho as wilderness prohibiting motorized access. Weather and snow conditions have combined to create some very hazardous situations in the Northern Rockies. In just a little over a week four people have died from avalanches. Two near Cooke City and two more in the Flint Range near Philipsburgh.
