Sexual Assaults

At the Thursday, May 9 press conference featuring Assistant Attorney General, Civil Rights Division's Roy Austin, U. S. Attorney for Montana Mike Cotter and University of Montana President Royce Engstrom, steps to address the problem of sexual assault were spelled out.

On May 1, 2012, Thomas Perez with the U. S. Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division held a news conference to announce an investigation into sexual assaults on the UM campus and in the city of Missoula.

THE VERDICT The jury of seven women and five men took just a few hours to decide that Jordan Johnson was not guilty of sexually assaulting a fellow University of Montana student on the night of Feb. 4, 2012 as the two watched a movie at her house.

Jordan Johnson continued the testimony he began Tuesday in Missoula Dstrict Court today, Feb. 27, telling his side of the story regarding a relationship, and subsequent sexual encounter, he had with a fellow University of Montana student who said he raped her Feb. 4, 2012.

Former University of Montana quarterback Jordan Johnson took the stand Monday, Feb. 25, afternoon after the prosecution wrapped up its case to convince the jury that he was guilty of sexual intercourse without consent.

A forensic gynecologist told those in Missoula District Court on Friday, Feb. 22, that after reviewing materials in the Jordan Johnson rape trial, he not only found no evidence that the sexual intercourse between Johnson and his accuser was non-consensual, but he also found that the medical exam done on the woman was "below the standard of care."

Thursday night at 7 p.m. representatives of the city and county, along with the University of Montana will present a forum on the State of the Community.

Lori Morin, the assistant dean of student affairs at the School of Pharmacy at the University of Montana, said that the alleged victim came to her about a month after the night she has accused suspended Grizzlies quarterback Jordan Johnson of raping her after seeing him for the first time since that night and was sobbing and hugging on to her. Brian O'Day took the stand first in this morning, Feb. 15, as a witness in the sexual assault trail for suspended University of Montana quarterback Jordan Johnson and discussed talking with the alleged victim the night in question, as well as over the days that followed.

The alleged victim in the trial of suspended University of Montana quarterback Jordan Johnson was asked by the defense to answer to a text message she sent in reference to the firing of former football coach Robin Pflugrad and athletic director Jim O'Day this morning, Feb. 14, on the third day of the trial.

The woman who accused suspended University of Montana quarterback Jordan Johnson of raping her, continued her testimony today, during which she described the details of the alleged Feb. 4, 2012 sexual assault.

Jury selection will get underway Friday in the rape trial of suspended University of Montana quarterback Jordan Johnson.
