Sugarland Still Not Breaking Up, Kristian Bush Confirms
The past few years have been busy -- and at times tumultuous, for both halves of -- Sugarland. Back in 2011, the duo took some time off after touring for two straight years straight to recover from the Indiana State Fair tragedy, when a stage collapse killed seven and injured dozens. Then, at the end of 2012, Nettles gave birth to a baby boy (her and her husband's first) and took some time to adjust to motherhood.
Now, both Nettles and Bush are dabbling in their own projects. The frontwoman is working with rock producer Rick Rubin on a solo record, which could be released this fall -- but no definite dates have been set yet. Bush has already released his first solo single, 'Love or Money,' in Europe.
Of course, as soon as Nettles and Bush started announcing plans for separate projects, the rumor mill started churning. In a recent interview with CMT, Bush addressed the gossip ... again.
"I love that people are interested. It's one of my favorite things," he admits. "They're like, 'Are y'all finished?' ... I'm like 'Oh my gosh, no.'"
Although they haven't called it quits on Sugarland, Bush didn't give any concrete information on when the duo will reunite.
"I've been making music for 20 years. I mean, before I had Sugarland, I had another record deal with another band, so this is just what I do when I wake up in the morning, and it will be what I do when I wake up in the morning tomorrow," he adds. "Jennifer [Nettles] and I will get back to it as soon as we get back to it."
As far as their personal relationship goes, Bush insists that he thinks of his partner in crime just like family. He feels nothing but excitement about her new solo record.
"Oh my God, Jennifer is putting a record out. I couldn't be anything except her biggest fan," he says. "We've been playing together for years."
Although there are no details about when Sugarland could start making music again, for now, it sounds like fans of the award-winning duo can breathe easy.
