Stevensville Sets School Bond Election for May 8

Stevensville School District voters will have a mail-in election from April 18 to May 8 to decide two bond issues for building bonds to improve the high school and elementary buildings at the school campus and improve the sports facilities.

The high school bond is set at $9,745,000 and the elementary bond is $6,876,000. Both bonds include an ambitious list of projects. The high school projects include moving and creating a new main entrance, library, science classrooms, gymnasium and restroom improvements, upgrading heating system and lighting systems, hallway improvements and more parking area by relocating the practice field. The elementary projects include upgrading or building classrooms, a new entry and administration area, refurbishing the gymnasium, playground improvements, heating and electrical upgrades, better parking and safer drop-off areas.

Portions of both 20-year bonds would also be used to build an all-weather track, along with new grandstands and a building for locker rooms, concessions and restrooms, and refurbished tennis courts. Both bonds will also help pay for improving the bus barn and maintenance building or building a new one.

The mail-in ballots will be sent out to registered Stevensville School District voters April 18 and they must be returned to the Ravalli County Election Office by mail or in person by May 8 at the Ravalli County Administration Center, 215 South 4th in Hamilton.
