Speeds Way Up at Indianapolis

What do you get with a cool track, new tires, long straightaways and a car that “sticks”? SPEED!

NASCAR started testing earlier this week at INDY and it was fast to say the least. Last year Denny Hamlin won the pole position with a fast lap of 182.293. This past Tuesday Mark Martin did 214 on the back straightaway. Keep in mind this was an early in the day run. Things will probably be different when the boys race there in late July. Indy has always been tough on tires so there’s another factor to consider. I do know that most of the drivers are really happy with the Gen-6 cars in the way they handle. Jeff Gordon was also at the track for testing and was amazed by how well the car handled and how fast he could go.
