Dolly Parton's "Coat of Many Colors" is among 25 recordings going into the National Recording Registry of the Library of Congress. The song was a huge hit for Parton in 1971 that she wrote about growing up in East Tennessee.

Country Music Hall of Fame member Patsy Montana also made the list with her signature song "I Want To Be A Cowboy's Sweetheart." The 1935 recording became one of the first hits by a female country singer.
