This is one gigantic "OOOPS," if we are to believe the guy who lost his job over this. But officials in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania are not showing any sympathy to their budget and policy analyst, who failed to approve an electronic transfer required for 1,200 employees to be paid on Black Friday, before he went on vacation. Associated Press tells us that Jason Parrish says the pay lapse was an accident, but declined comment when asked if he thought his dismissal was justified. County officials say they were able to start correcting the error the day it happened, but some employees did not get paid till Monday.

Kind of a tough one, huh? We've all had a paycheck delayed a day or two for one reason or another. Mr. Parrish is filing a grievance with his union. To make matters worse, every time a fellow employee drew his name of the Secret Santa bucket, they tossed it back. Ouch!     DB
