Well, I think it sounds fun and not stuffy. But I'm a Montana kid so what do I know? I guess some folks in Salem, N.Y.---the rural upstate area---don't feel the same about their annual Fourth of July parade theme. The volunteer fire department puts on the parade and say that the number of groups participating has decreased, so they're going with a Redneck Summer theme to try to spice things up a bit. I don't know what that means exactly, but it's not sitting well with everybody. One local said that the theme is disturbing because redneck doesn't have a good connotation. Another is taken aback that groups will be vying for the best redneck float. Heck, I'm up for a road trip now! Who's with me? DB
