Residents in the Big Sky High School area called 9-1-1 Monday night at about 11:30 p.m. to report shots fired.

Senior Deputy Two Jeremiah Peterson with the Missoula County Sheriff's Department said the incident involved a juvenile male with a handgun.

"An individual had pointed a handgun at the occupants of a vehicle and then fired a couple of shots in the air," Peterson said. "The individual then drove away. The suspects were located and one person was taken into custody. They're all juveniles, and he was transported to the Missoula County Juvenile Detention Center."

The juvenile male has been charged with two felonies, assault with a weapon and negligent endangerment. He will be seen in Missoula juvenile court. The other juveniles involved were released into the custody of their parents.

Peterson said no one was injured in the incident.
