Missoula Police were called to St. Patrick Hospital early on Sunday afternoon to investigate a body found in a vehicle outside the hospital. 

Corporal Bob Campbell related a press release authored by Detective Sergeant Jim Klawitter.

"At about 12:22 p.m. on Sunday, July 26th, Missoula Police officers responded to a call of a male with a gunshot wound, who was being transported to St. Patrick Hospital, " Campbell said. "When officers arrived, they found the man had died en route to the hospital."

Campbell said police began their investigation immediately.

"Detectives are currently questioning the male who transported the victim to St. Pat's," he said. "At this time the investigation is in its preliminary stages. Further questions may be directed to Detective Sergeant Scott Pastian or Detective Sergeant Jim Klawitter."

No other details were released, aside from the fact that the gunshot victim was a male. The victim's identity has not been made public.
