It's one of the most famous, iconic stretches of highway in the United States. And when we say it sings to you, we're not trying to be poetic or use romantic metaphor here. It actually "sings" to you. That's what Associated Press tells us, anyway. On a stretch of Route 66 in New Mexico between Albuquerque and Tijeras, a company has installed a series of rumble strips that create music. Drivers will hear the tune as long they maintain the speed limit. While not the first, there are only a few "singing roads" in the world. New Mexico Department of Transportation says besides getting drivers to slow down, it will help keep the drowsy ones more alert. And it's a fun way to give them a reward for obeying the speed limit.
