The Montana Grizzlies took their first step back toward the top 25 Saturday afternoon on a cold, windy day in Greeley, Colorado, beating Northern Colorado 40-17 to spoil their Homecoming.

Caleb Walden intercepted a pass from the Bears punter and ran the ball in for the only Grizzly touchdown of the first half. Chris Lider added a field goal to make it 10-0 at the intermission.

Northern Colorado ran the ball back 98 yards for a touchdown to start the second half, but then the Griz took over and the final score was 40-17. Peter Nguyen ran for over 160 yards and scored a touchdown. Quarterback Trent McKinney was an efficient 14-25 for 147 yards and a touchdown...and no interceptions. In fact..the Griz intercepted the ball 4 times and picked up a fumble, while not turning over the ball for the first time in six games.

Up next, the Griz will host Southern Utah on Saturday, October 13th at 1:30 pm.
