Country queen Reba McEntire is about to get a new daughter-in-law, and it seems like she couldn't be happier. McEntire's stepson, Brandon Blackstock (who managers Blake Shelton), will marry pop and country star Kelly Clarkson in the fall, and his proud stepmom gushed about her soon-to-be daughter-in-law in a new interview with Katie Couric.

In a special episode of Couric's daytime talk show on that focused entirely on country music last week, McEntire told the TV journalist that she's "thrilled to death" to have Clarkson marry into the family. "To have my buddy as my daughter-in-law, I mean, who could ask for more? She’s a big-hearted, very good person. Very talented,” she shares.

McEntire went on to admit that she and her husband (and manager) Narvel Blackstock hope to be role models for a healthy relationship between Clarkson and Blackstock. “I think the best advice that Narvel and I can give Kelly and Brandon is by example instead of words, because Narvel and I get along very well," she spills. "We work together, we play together. We’re best friends, we’re lovers. We’re buddies. So it’s a very, I think that’s better to just set by example than by giving them a lecture.”

“But the greatest advice ever is open communication,” she continued. “I used to sull up and not speak and realized that if I could tell him what’s wrong … then I’d tell him and he’d be like, ‘That’s it?’ That’s why you’ve been sulled up for three days?’”

Other guests on the special 'Katie Goes Country' episode included 'Nashville' star Connie Britton and fast-rising star Chris Young, who performed his current single 'I Can Take It From There.'
