On this Father's Day, the once Great American voice of American Top 40 Casey Kasem has passed away at the age of 82.

Kerri Kasem, Casey's daughter, announced the news on her Facebook page. "Early this Father's Day morning, our dad Casey Kasem passed away surrounded by family and friends. Even though we know he is in a better place and no longer suffering, we are heartbroken," she wrote in a Facebook post. "Thank you for all your love, support and prayers. The world will miss Casey Kasem, an incredible talent and humanitarian; we will miss our Dad."

I remember as a kid excited to her who was number 1 on American Top 40, I would listen to his countdown in Portland, Oregon. Then later on, mid 70's, he became the voice of Shaggy on Scooby Doo! He was the talent we all as baby DJ's would strive to be.

Sad day on Father's Day to lose an American Icon such as Casey Kasem, makes me think about the loss of my father, which will be 10 years coming up August. On this Father's Day, love them while they are here and cherish every moment, it goes by very quickly.

And as I sign off from this blog, I will sign off as Casey did every countdown, "Keep your feet on the ground, and keep reaching for the stars!"
