This past January, I made resolutions to get into better shape and to eat healthier. It was slow going at first, but I have been doing a pretty good job sticking to my resolutions this year. I have spent the last nine months running a few days a week and just trying to substitute some unhealthier food for healthier foods. I have learned a lot about eating healthier, and what and when to eat after a workout.

This recipe is great to drink after a workout, or first thing in the morning to help you get a little extra protein in your diet. It is one of my favorite fall flavored protein shakes. I get to enjoy a little pumpkin, and get the protein my muscles need after a run.

I find that I can’t even taste the protein powder. This smoothie just tastes like pumpkin pie in a glass. The only thing that’s missing is a dollop of whipped cream on top. I guess if I went on an extra long run I might splurge and have that whipped cream.

Pumpkin Pie Protein Smoothie

1/2 cup pumpkin puree

1/2 cup shredded ice

1/2 banana

3/4 cup coconut milk

1/2 scoop vanilla protein powder

1 tsp cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice

Throw all your ingredients into a blender and blend until well combined. Pour into a glass and drink.
