Primary Election is Tuesday, June 3 – Last Minute Voting Tips [AUDIO]
Primary election day is Tuesday, June 3, and the Missoula County Elections Center is open at the Missoula County Fairgrounds to answer last-minute questions.
Chief Deputy of Elections and Recording for Missoula County, Rebecca Connors said last minute applications can be made at the fairgrounds.
"Those who have not voted absentee yet can come down to the elections center at the fairgrounds and request to receive a ballot before election day," Connors said. "We are encouraging anyone who wants to vote at their polling place to visit the website missoulavotes.com and go to the 'my voter' page where you can view directions to your polling place, and determine if your voter information is correct. We advise everyone to go check that out first before going to their polling place. There is a sample ballot available, as well."
Those who find themselves at the wrong polling place can receive assistance on election day.
"For those who don't find their names on their polling place register, our election judges are trained to put a call in to our office to make sure where the correct polling place is for them," Connors said. "If you're not registered at all, you should come to our elections center at the fairgrounds, where we will be open special hours from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. That way, we can catch any problems with registration before you actually go to the polling place to vote."
For election day itself, Connors has specific information for voters.
"Some identification is required before voting. There are two kinds that will work. One is a photo ID such as a Montana drivers license, or a post-secondary education photo ID. All that the state statute requires is a name and a photo. You could provide a utility bill from your current address, or if all else fails, we have a special form that all of our polling place managers are trained to use. The voter must supply their drivers license number or the last four digits of their social security number. The polling place manager can then call the office and have the information confirmed with the drivers license bureau."
Polling places will be open from 7 a.m. till 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3.
