The Montana Grizzlies had the Big Sky Conference's best win this week, and it might not have happened without a human lightning bug.

One of the players who gave Montana a spark whenever it was needed was punt returner Jerry Louie-McGee, who earned this week’s ROOT SPORTS Big Sky Special Teams Player of the Week honor.

Louie-McGee, a redshirt freshman, gave the Griz some breathing room in the first half of Saturday's 20-14 win at then third-ranked Northern Iowa, with an 81-yard touchdown return in the second quarter that put Montana up 17-7. He ended with 118 return yards, to go along with 33 receiving yards and 11 rushing yards. Player of the week honors on offense went to quarterback Kyle Sloter of Northern Colorado and defensive player of the week was John Walker of Montana State.

Congratulations to Jerry, and to the Griz for moving up to No. 9 in this week's Football Championship weekly rankings after the electrifying victory on the road. It's a bye week, then on to Cal Poly to take on the Mustangs Saturday, September 24. Kickoff at 1:00 p.m. Mountain Time. We are lovin' Griz Nation!   DB
