Picking Vegetables, Not Fights

I suppose if you saw a group of up to 15 people with knives and sticks, you might worry about mob violence. Of course, you might also be looking at a group of innocent asparagus pickers wondering what the heck the police showed up for!

But that was the situation near Ludwigslust, Germany over the weekend, where six police cars circled a group of asparagus harvesters, after receiving a report that 10 to 15 people were walking along a road armed with knives and sticks. In reality, they had their work tools and were on their way to take a lunch break.

I can't imagine that a group of asparagus pickers resembled an angry mob, but....... Hopefully they got their work done, as asparagus is a very popular delicacy in Deutschland. Ya. And may I say, I love the name Ludwigslust.  :-)
