American ingenuity is always trying to come up with ways to cash in on big events. But a pizza parlor owner is not about to try to market Pope Francis on his boxes.

With the pope scheduled to visit Philadelphia September 22-27, southern New Jersey pizzeria owner Anthony Marino has changed his mind about putting a picture of Pope Francis on his pizza takeout boxes. Anthony is Roman Catholic and says he just decided it didn't seem right. So Anthony sent the boxes back to the distributor.

But you know there will be other merchants working the angle to cash in. In past visits by popes to the U.S., I can remember items like Pope on a Rope Soap and Pope-sicles. But you'll have to go somewhere other than Marino's Pizza for your souvenirs.   DB
