Finally! A politician with a nose for getting to the heart of the issues and really pleasing the people! Or something like that when you're a dog running for mayor. Actually lots of candidates have thrown their collars in the ring in Divide, Colorado. They are an unincorporated mountain town and they don't have a mayor. So, the director of the Teller County Regional Animal Shelter decided to hold an election. And it's okay for the candidates to sell votes. A total of 11 animals are competing for the title of mayor. Each online vote means $1 for the shelter. Voting began in February and so far they've raised about $9,000. That will pay for a lot of spaying and neutering. A fan favorite seems to be Pa Kettle. Maybe he looks the most like a politician who would try to buy votes. DB
