A large, enthusiastic crowd at Caras Park watched as the University of Montana Grizzlies let a very important game slip away on Saturday night in Cheney, Washington against the Eastern Washington Eagles, during the first ever Town Pump outdoor viewing party.

The Griz fought their way back from being behind most of the game to take the lead in the 3rd quarter after tackling the punter on the Eagles 8 yard line. The Griz then took the lead after a Jordan Canada touchdown 23-17.

The Griz lengthened their lead to 26-17 with a Chris Lider field goal at the start of the 4th quarter.

Then...disaster struck for the Grizzlies as the eagles rallied for two 4th quarter touchdowns to win the game 32 to 26.

The loss leaves the Grizzlies at  2 and 3 for the season but more importantly, 0-2 in the Big Sky Conference. Montana State, Northern Arizona, Eastern Washington and Cal Poly are all at 2-0 at this point in the season.

The Griz must win out...and count on the other teams to lose at least one conference game to even have a chance at repeating as conference champs. With the loss, the Grizzlies stand a chance of dropping out of the top 25 in FCS standings for the first time in 20 years.

Up next, the Griz hit the road for a Saturday game against Northern Colorado.
