If you need a good excuse to take an afternoon off and hang out on Flathead Lake, here you  go! You'll even get a little education thrown into the mix!

The University of Montana Flathead Lake Biological Station invites the public to its free annual Open House from 1 to 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 5. The station is located 17.5 miles north of Polson and 14 miles south of Bigfork on Highway 35 (Flathead's east shore).

The event is designed to allow visitors to explore the station and learn about research and education programs. There are boat trips, guided tours, nature walks, special presentations and displays.

To find out more about making reservations and schedule of events and more, you can visit the FLBS website or call them at 406-982-3301.

In the meantime I'll work on making excuses for you to get out of work and also work on making it a ridiculously perfect early-August day on Flathead Lake!  DB
