At 10 a.m. Thursday, June 14, Flag Day, an old flag was retired and a new flag flew in its place at Sapphire Lutheran Homes in Hamilton. The ceremony started with the lowering of the faded flag that was beginning to tatter at the edges. Community coordinator Dominic Farrenkopf said the flag would be properly disposed by the American Legion. Then, the new flag was unfurled and raised to the top of the pole. The small crowd of Sapphire Homes residents and others recited the Pledge of Allegiance and the new flag was installed at its new home atop the pole along North 10th Street in Hamilton.
