NORAD Welcomes Santa Again This Year Online

We're pretty sure that Santa has more than a learners permit to drive that sleigh, but the Montana Drivers Exam Office in Stevensville thinks it might have happened. Their "Student Driver" display is part of its entry in the Stevensville Main Street Business Decoration contest.

Speaking of Santa and his December 24th overnight flight to Christmas Day, NORAD is again ready to track the flight.

In fact, NORAD (the North American Aerospace Defense Command) has opened its website with all sorts of information, videos and family-friendly games. The site also has a countdown clock. In the week before the flight, therer will be "on site" reports from the North Pole.

In other words, NORAD has a great, loaded website for Christmas!

By the way, as a footnote to history, NORAD became involved with the Santa flight back in the 50s, when an ad promoting Santa telephone calls misprinted the phone number, and people called the Continental Air Defense Command Operations Center by mistake. NORAD took over the calls and expanded the service in 1958.
