Students moving into residence halls at the University of Montana. Check. A sold-out, nationally televised Griz football game against the four-time defending FCS champs. Check. Probable delays in regards to parking and getting around campus. Check. Combine that with the River City Roots Festival downtown on Friday and Saturday just goes to show Missoula is the place to be this weekend! VP of Integrated Communications Peggy Kuhr said students are back in town already and UM is offering some helpful tips to making move-in day less stressful for students as well as their families.

"We are getting the word out to incoming students and their families, sending them guides basically to surviving move-in day and game day," Kuhr said. "For some students who are moving into Aber Hall which is back against Mount Sentinel right on Campus Drive, we are allowing them to move in a day early with no additional charge."

Campus groups and employees at the university will be assisting students moving into the dorms, Kuhr said, in addition to campus police that will be patrolling residence halls to keep game day traffic out of the residence hall parking lots.

"Be patient, be courteous. If you're trying to get on campus for anything that is not related to the game, your best bet is to go via the Beckwith entrance and people will direct you," Kuhr said. "We're also recommending that students and families try to avoid the traffic between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday and 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. If you can come early, we will help you out. But regardless of when they're here, we will work our darnedest to help them get around and get moved in."

Classes at the University of Montana begin on Monday.
