I talked to my friend John at Rock Creek Fisherman's Mercantile this afternoon. He says at least a few salmon flies are on the bushes. To people who like to fly fish, the big orange fatties' arrival is like Christmas! And although rain has put down the hatch at Rock Creek, things should explode there as soon as we get into some warm, sunny days. I know that doesn't do you much good over the Memorial Day weekend with the forecast being what it is, but John says for now your best bets will be big stonefly nymphs, San Juan worms and yellow and brown streamers.  Rock Creek floating season is picking up too, and can be very productive, but be sure you know how to row Rock Creek and call ahead for info on log jams. John and Carolyn are always happy to help you out at 825-6440. Good fishing, friends! DB
