The Montana Highway Patrol in the Missoula District will increase patrols this weekend. The increases coincide with one of the year's biggest party days, Super Bowl Sunday. The areas covered in the district includes Missoula, Mineral, Sanders and Ravalli counties. Additional patrols and overtime shifts are scheduled for Thursday, January 31st through the early hours of Monday morning, February 4th. In the words of MHP District One Commander, Captain John Kitchin, "A lot of people gather with friends or go to the bars to watch the big game. The Super Bowl is an all-American event that creates a lot of entertainment and celebration. We only ask that fans be smart about how they enjoy their day. If you plan to drink, plan ahead for a sober driver."

The extra patrols will make routine traffic stops, but their focus will be on apprehension of impaired drivers. DB
