Montana Grizzly Softball Home Opener Weekend

It looks like a bit more favorable weather will be coming our way this weekend. And softball is in the air!The University of Montana Grizzly softball team captured the hearts of lots of western Montanans in their inaugural season last year. And they're ready to build from there.

It's the home openers for the Griz as Montana takes on Nevada Friday (March 18) at 4:00 p.m. Then Saturday and Sunday (March 19-20) is the Grizzly Classic, featuring Montana, Nevada and Omaha. Games begin Saturday at 11:00, with the Griz playing in Games 2 and 3. Action resumes Sunday at 10:30.

Free posters and other prizes will be available Saturday. All games are at South Campus Stadium with tickets available at the gate. Be sure to ask about season passes while you're there.

I've had a chance to interview head coach Jamie Pinkerton a few times. Terrific guy and I think an excellent choice to start this program. He's definitely got things going in the right direction just barely into his second season. I hope can take in some Montana softball this weekend and GO GRIZ!
